Dr. Doria Sharaf El-Din said that national identity is a very complex and intertwined idea, which cannot be discussed independently of other important files such as media, education, culture and art.

She added during a session entitled “Issues of National Identity”, which is organized by the Culture and National Identity Committee within the activities of the National Axis, today, Thursday, that it is not possible to talk about the role of these files individually to influence and preserve identity unilaterally.

She noted that communication sites have entered the arena, adding: “There is a danger in leaving the door to it alone in taking over the citizen and shaping people’s awareness of the homeland.”

She stated that “these sites allowed the general public to communicate, interact, express opinions and receive reactions,” noting that “the citizen stands for the negative attitude of the recipient of the traditional media.”

He stressed the importance of media attention to the matter and work to involve the citizen in the affairs of his country, citing recent attempts to steal and falsify the origins of Egyptian civilization through foreign artwork.

And she continued, “The continuation of the campaigns without a high-level Egyptian artistic confrontation would reinforce skepticism about the ancient Egyptian history, and the matter may reach modern history.”

And she appealed to review textbooks that deal with Egyptian history and correct the grave errors in them, commenting: “You steal from the people their true history in favor of successive campaigns, invasions and kingdoms, not all of which were in favor of religion, but rather for reasons related to expansion and governance.”

She pointed out, “Supporting the elements and features of the Egyptian personality enhances identity, which requires attention to renaissance and enlightenment, and to stop promoting Salafi-Wahhabi thought and fatwa programs, and to involve religion in all situations.” Islamic and Christian.

Today, Thursday, the first sessions of the societal axis of the national dialogue, which includes 6 sub-committees, were launched.

Four sessions are held today, two sessions are devoted to issues of guardianship and guardianship over money that are on the schedule of the Family and Community Cohesion Committee, while in parallel the other two sessions are devoted to discussing national identity issues included in the work of the Culture and National Identity Committee.
