The Moroccan critic and novelist Saeed Al-Shafaj recently published a book entitled “The Geometry of Horror: A Critical Study of Examples of Arab Cinematic and Narrative Narratives” by Al-Madras Publishing House in Casablanca.

The writer has tried to trace the path of the art of the image and its psychological, cognitive and cultural relations, from the Roman and Greek civilizations to the modern era, by examining the feasibility of writing horror in a world full of wars, disasters and epidemics.

The atmosphere of the book revolves between cinema, given its absolute power, and the novel, given that it is a ground for the human imagination. The first chapters focus on the artistic processes of horror and how the theme is inherited and associated with human existence until it became an industry that generates imaginary income and turned into an ideology of distraction and distortion of history from the point of view of the writer.

The writer, Saeed Al-Shafaj, relied on the texts of the novels of writers who experienced the worlds of fear, and it was transformed by the power of their creativity into narratives of great plot and suspense, such as the writer Walid Aladdin, Ibrahim Hajri, Muhammad Shukri, the Sudanese novelist Anne Al-Safi Adel, the Iraqi Muhammad Saadawi, and others.
