Last week, the Egyptian state, represented by the Ministry of Culture, launched a new project of mobile libraries, affiliated to the Egypt Public Libraries Fund, in front of the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of Dr. Beheira, Dakahlia, Damietta.
These libraries are dedicated to providing cultural service to the villages of “a decent life”, in order to activate the objectives of the Egyptian state aimed at achieving cultural justice and human building. Al-Taifi, Director of the Egyptian Public Libraries Fund, to find out details about the publications included in the libraries.
Ambassador Reda Al-Taifi said that the number of publications and periodicals in each event will range from 500 to 1,000 books for reading and borrowing, in addition to unspecified gifts that will be symbolic to encourage children, and there will be materials for drawing and other activities.
Shafir Reda Al-Taifi explained, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day”, that among the goals of mobile libraries is to develop the habit of reading among young people, in addition to spreading cultural justice between rural and urban areas and discovering and developing talents, especially those in the depths of the countryside.
Ambassador Reda Al-Taifi added that the inauguration of 6 mobile libraries that roam 6 governorates in the villages of the Presidential Initiative, A Decent Life, is an ambitious beginning to generalize mobile libraries throughout Egypt, in order to activate the cultural role in human building, as the libraries began working upon their arrival in the six governorates, to present their educational and cultural message, and that In coordination between Egypt’s public libraries and governors according to pre-planned geographical, artistic and cultural programmes, there are also 3 mobile libraries in regions in Giza and Cairo, in addition to a tenth library that is directed successively to governorates that do not have public or mobile libraries. A similar mobile library is currently being prepared in Marsa Matrouh Governorate. This brings the total number of mobile libraries in Egypt’s public library system to 15 libraries.
