Saudi Aramco announced, in a statement today, Thursday, the creation of two new positions, the Upstream President and the Downstream President, as part of its plan to achieve its long-term strategy across its global portfolio and value chain.
According to Aramco, both of them, along with the executive vice presidents, are administratively linked to the company’s president and chief executive officer. Nasser bin Khalid Al-Naimi was appointed as President of Exploration and Production, and Mohammed bin Yahya Al-Qahtani as President of Refining, Chemicals and Marketing. The two appointments that were created, and approved by the Board of Directors, will be effective as of July 1, 2023, thus replacing the two previous positions (Executive Vice President for Exploration and Production; Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Refining, Chemicals and Marketing).
For his part, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco, Eng. Amin bin Hassan Al-Nasser, said that these positions confirm our focus on our business system in both the exploration and production, refining, chemicals and marketing sectors, as Saudi Aramco continues its efforts to transform to meet the energy requirements of the world. .
He continued: “We expect this decision to help enhance operational and financial performance, support the growth of our capabilities in the exploration and production sector and our expansion in the refining, chemicals and marketing sector, in addition to our ambition to reach zero neutrality for the two scopes (1 and 2) and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the company’s facilities.” wholly owned and operated by 2050. It is noteworthy that Nasser Al-Naimi has held the position of Executive Vice President for Exploration and Production since April 1, 2021, while Muhammad Al-Qahtani has held the position of Executive Vice President for Refining, Chemicals and Marketing since September 13, 2020.
