In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the medical and surgical team began this morning in the process of separating the Nigerian Siamese twins “Hassana and Hasina” sons of Omar Rayano, led by the Advisor at the Royal Court and the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the head of the team, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah.
The operation is taking place with the participation of 35 consultants, specialists, nursing and technical cadres from the specializations of anesthesiology, pediatric surgery, pediatric urology, plastic and orthopedic surgery for children, and others, at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah explained that the surgery is expected to take place in eight stages and take about 14 hours, noting that the twins were born in Kaduna, Nigeria, on 12/1/2022 AD, and they share the abdomen, pelvis, liver, intestines, urinary and reproductive system, and pelvic bones.
He added that the Saudi program for the separation of Siamese twins supervised 130 cases from 23 countries over 33 years, and separated 55 cases, and this case is No. 56.
At the end of his statement, he praised the unlimited support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for the Saudi program to separate Siamese twins, which was the reason for the Kingdom’s leadership in this program in particular and the health sector in general.
