Omar Al-Rassi wrote in “Akhbar Al-Youm”:
It is true that today’s political and diplomatic event is in Jeddah, but with regard to Lebanon, there is nothing new to mention regarding the presidential elections, and it is not expected that the Arab summit will issue something that could urge the internal parties to consensus and understanding.
From here, a source in the opposition considered, through the “Akhbar Al-Youm” agency, that the presidential situation is closed until Hezbollah withdraws from its presidential candidate, former MP Suleiman Franjieh, who no longer has any horizon, whether external or internal, especially in light of his refusal to be elected by several parties. parties, pointing out that this nomination and insistence on it formed and constitutes a great national division and a challenge to the two wills: first, the will of the Christians, and second, the will of the Lebanese who want to get out of the impasse caused by the administration of resistance to the Lebanese state.
In this context, the source pointed out that there are two teams that can communicate with Hezbollah: the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, former MP Walid Jumblatt, who previously tried to present a list of consensual candidates, but the Shiite duo dropped his initiative, and the other team is the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, who says he is against The opposition candidate and against the confrontation candidate, and therefore he wants to go to consensus. The source added: The difference between the two sides is that Jumblatt was seeking to agree with his adoption of the candidacy of Representative Michel Moawad, while Basil did not specify whether he was seeking to agree with his adoption of the opposition candidate, which raises a fundamental question? If Bassil takes such a step, we will be facing a shuffling of presidential papers. If he does not, we will remain in the gray space until the two cancel Franjieh’s candidacy, or ask him to withdraw.
In response to a question, the source said: If Hezbollah believes that waiting will lead to a change in Bassil’s position, then there are no indications of this direction, and also if it believes that the Kingdom’s position will change towards announcing its blessing for Franjieh’s arrival to the first slate, then this position will not change, because it announced Its position is that this entitlement is an internal matter, and therefore matters stop at this point.
And the source continued: At this particular time, we see Hezbollah preparing for a military maneuver contrary to the constitution and in defiance of the will of the state to say that the Saudi-Iranian agreement does not include its arsenal, missiles, and weapons, and thus confirms that its weapons are outside the discussion, and it alone determines its nature and nature. At the same time, he sends a message to any presidential candidate: You must bless the party’s maneuver.
