The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade announced that, in coordination with the Supply Investigations, the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade in the New Valley managed to seize a quantity of smuggled wheat for use in unauthorized purposes, and 22.2 tons were seized, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution, which decided to hand them over to the Kharga Silo.
This came on the instructions of Ali al-Muslehi, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, to tighten control over wheat trading and based on the directives of Major General Muhammad Salman al-Zamlot, Governor of the New Valley, regarding the continuous follow-up of the wheat trading movement in the governorate.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade continues to receive local wheat from farmers, as wheat is received for the benefit of the Supply Commodities Authority for all locally grown varieties, provided that it is free from insect infestations, sand and gravel, and with a degree of cleanliness of not less than 22.5 carats. The receiving points, which number up to 420 points, vary between vertical and field silos, hangers, bakers, developed stores, and mill silos. Their doors open from eight o’clock in the morning, and their work ends daily with the last car loaded with wheat after seven o’clock in the evening, with the payment of the suppliers’ dues as soon as possible.
