English press reports revealed that the European Football Association held talks about moving the European Champions League final from the Turkish capital, Istanbul, with less than a month left to hold it.
The English newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the European Football Association held talks about moving the final to the “Al-Nour” stadium in Lisbon, Portugal, due to the Turkish presidential elections that will be held later this month.
The newspaper indicated that the European Football Association would be very reluctant to change the final stadium, as it had already been moved from Istanbul twice due to the Corona virus, in 2020 and 2021.
And the newspaper pointed out that UEFA may have to consider a change, because the safety of the fans is their main concern, in the biggest club football match.
The Champions League final is scheduled to take place less than two weeks later, which means that UEFA may have to make a late decision.
Manchester City and Real Madrid tied 1-1 in the semi-final first leg, while Inter Milan won 2-0 away at Milan in the semi-final first leg this week.
The return matches will be held next week, to determine who will compete for the Champions League final, which is scheduled to be held at Ataturk Stadium on June 10.
