Last Monday, the Egyptian actress Sumaya al-Khashab celebrated her honor from an organization called the United Nations Art Authority, where she shared with her followers via Twitter a picture of the ceremony, during which she appeared in graduation clothes, announcing that she had received an honorary doctorate.
Al-Khashab was not satisfied with this honor, as a great controversy arose about him through the communication sites in Egypt, and the organization that awarded her an honorary doctorate was questioned, and it was confirmed that it was not affiliated with the United Nations Center in Egypt.
The day before yesterday, the United Nations Information Center in Cairo issued a statement disclaiming responsibility for the celebration, and that it had nothing to do with the party that claimed to be affiliated with the organization.
The center called on the media to exercise caution in what is published, especially with regard to the center’s activities, events and celebrations, and to draw it from its official sources, whether through press releases issued by the center, or communicating with the organization’s media center.
This statement came after the statements of the Egyptian doctor Hossam Mowafi, who circulated the activists of the communication sites, pictures that brought him together with Sumaya al-Khashab from the celebration, confirming that he handed her the certificate of honor.
Muwafi confirmed, during televised statements, that he did not honor al-Khashab and had nothing to do with those responsible for the celebration, but he was among the honorees, and he does not know whether it is affiliated with the United Nations Organization in Egypt or not.
And about his photo with al-Khashab, he said that he was surprised by it during the ceremony, asking him to take a memorial photo with him, and of course he did not refuse the matter, and these circulating photos were taken for them.
Despite this controversy and questioning the credibility of the honor and the honorary doctorate she received, Sumaya al-Khashab ignored the response or clarified the fact that she knew whether the party that honored her was actually affiliated with the United Nations, or a fictitious entity, and contented herself with talking about her career and that she deserved any honor. .
