DUBAI, 12th May, 2020 (WAM) — Nasser Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the UAE Handball Federation, confirmed that the start of the federation’s new sports season will take place during the first week of next September, with the participation of the same number of current teams (8 teams).
He pointed out that the new season will witness the establishment of 4 local championships, namely the General League, the President’s Cup, the Vice-President’s Cup and the Emirates Cup.
He explained that a meeting was held between the competitions and national teams committees, in the presence of Federation President Nabil Ashour, in order to discuss future participations, whether in the Arab Championship in Algeria or the establishment of the UAE-Bahraini Super, and to stress the need for the return of all foreign participations that benefit the players of the national team.
With regard to the program for communicating with clubs, which was launched two days ago, Al-Hammadi stressed that the federation continues to implement its previously announced program, in order to develop cooperation between the committee and the clubs before the start of the national team camp in preparation for the next period, the most prominent of which is the Asian qualifiers that will be held next October. , which in turn qualifies for the 2024 Paris Olympics, as well as the Asian Championship that qualifies for the 2025 World Cup.
He pointed out that the new coach of the national team, Danilo Prestovac, discussed with the National Teams Committee the calendar for the coming period, and the national team camps before the external events, and outlines were drawn up in this regard, provided that the dates are confirmed according to the external participations that will be announced later.
