The launch of the Heliopolis Week Festival under the auspices of the Ministries of Tourism and Communications and Cairo Governorate

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Cairo Governorate, the opening ceremony of the “Heliopolis Week” festival was held in Granada, in the Heliopolis district, which will be launched this year under the slogan “A New Glow for Egypt.” The new event will continue until May 25.

The Heliopolis Heritage Foundation is organizing the festival this year, to celebrate the 118th anniversary of the establishment of the Heliopolis suburb, through the cooperation of all official agencies, residents and owners of private places.

For her part, Eman Abdel Rahman, Director General of the General Department of Tourism Awareness at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, explained that the authority’s sponsorship of this event comes within the framework of its efforts to activate domestic tourism and spread tourist and archaeological awareness among the various groups of Egyptian society, introducing them to the heritage and antiquities of their country, and encouraging Egyptians to Visiting tourist and archaeological sites and learning about the ancient Egyptian civilization and the history of their country.

This year, the festival aims to put Heliopolis on the map of tourist tours. The festival’s activities will witness the holding of a number of seminars and panel discussions on the revival of archaeological sites through cultural and artistic activities and tourism activation, on roads and pedestrians in Heliopolis, and on heritage buildings and their restoration in Heliopolis, in addition to Organizing seminars on the sustainable city.

A number of exhibitions will also be opened, including the exhibition of Egyptian plastic artists and the exhibition of religious buildings in Heliopolis.
