ABU DHABI, 18th May, 2020 (WAM) — The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, through the City Planning Sector – Environment, Health and Safety Department, organized a workshop in the municipality’s main building on occupational safety and health requirements for companies operating in the construction and construction sector. The workshop targeted non-Arabic speaking workers in the sector.
The workshop attracted a group of representatives of a number of building and construction companies in Abu Dhabi, and discussed in English a number of axes to introduce the general framework of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s occupational safety and health system, as well as the role of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality as a sub-regulatory authority for the building and construction sector in the city of Abu Dhabi, and the roles of other relevant authorities. .
During the workshop, the municipality’s representatives worked to educate workers in the construction and construction sector about their roles and duties in this regard, and the mechanism for implementing the Abu Dhabi Emirate’s system of occupational safety and health, as well as awareness of the mechanism of using the electronic performance system to implement the occupational health and safety system, and the method of entering the performance system and raising mandatory requirements.
The workshop also discussed many challenges facing workers in the construction and construction sector in relation to the implementation of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s occupational safety and health system, and reviewed the nature and mechanism of the inspection process for companies operating in the sector, and the process of auditing the occupational health and safety requirements of companies.
