Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The US Embassy in Riyadh said, Thursday, that the visit of US Central Command Commander General Michael Korella to Saudi Arabia reflects “the United States’ continued and unwavering commitment to the Kingdom.”
The embassy added, via Twitter, that “this is General Korella’s fourth visit to the Kingdom since he took office,” and added that he visited the US embassy headquarters, accompanied by the Ministry of Defense team.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced, on Wednesday, that the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, received in Riyadh the commander of the US Central Command, who is currently visiting the Kingdom.
The ministry added, in a statement, that Al-Ruwaili discussed with the commander of the US Central Command “aspects of cooperation and joint coordination in the defense and military fields within the framework of the strategic relations that bring together the two friendly countries, and they discussed a number of issues and topics of common interest,” according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The ministry stated, via Twitter, that the Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff for Non-commissioned Officer Affairs, Chief Sergeant Ahmed Al-Mutairi, received the Chief of Staff Sergeant of the US Central Command, Derek Walter, and during the meeting they discussed “cooperation and issues of common interest in the field of developing non-commissioned officers and soldiers.”
And on Thursday, the Saudi Ministry of Defense said that Corella held several meetings with the Deputy Commander of the Air Force, Major General Staff Pilot Talal Al-Ghamdi, the Commander of the Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Mazyad Al-Amr, and the Assistant Minister of Defense, Eng. Talal Al-Otaibi, to “discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in the defense and military fields.” .
