The delegation of the Emirates News Agency, WAM, headed by Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Director General of the Agency, discussed ways to enhance news exchange with media institutions in the Republic of Korea, and their participation in the next session of the World Media Congress in Abu Dhabi.
This came during a visit by the WAM delegation to a number of Korean media institutions, within the framework of keenness to build distinguished partnerships with Korean media and to discuss the outcomes of the first session of the World Media Congress with partners from around the world.
In addition to reviewing the important role of the media in covering the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), which is being held this year in Dubai Expo City. The WAM delegation visited the headquarters of the English-language newspaper, JoongAng Ilbo, and learned about its work cycle.
In addition to the media services it provides and frameworks for joint cooperation between the two sides in terms of news exchange. The delegation also visited the headquarters of “Dong-a Ilbo” newspaper and the headquarters of Yonhap News Agency. They discussed the partnership between the two agencies in terms of news exchange, as well as the opportunities available for its development. The delegation also visited the headquarters of the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), a Korean television and radio network established in 1991.
During the visit, prospects for media cooperation were discussed, and a cooperation agreement was signed between the two sides. During the visit, WAM signed a cooperation agreement with the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), one of the largest Korean television networks that was established in 1927. It also signed two cooperation agreements with Joseon Ilbo newspaper and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
With the aim of enhancing media cooperation and news exchange. Muhammad Al-Raisi said, “Through this visit, we aim to discuss the outcomes of the first session of the World Media Congress that was held last year in Abu Dhabi, and to invite the Korean media to participate in its second session,” noting that this event provides an ideal platform to enhance news exchange between various global media.
