Saudi newspapers dealt with a number of separate issues, but focused on the Arab summit in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper said, “The Jeddah Declaration” emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause, and called for giving priority to the language of dialogue and unifying the ranks to resolve the Sudanese crisis, and welcomed the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings, and supported everything that guarantees the security and stability of Yemen, urging all Lebanese parties to elect a president for the republic.
And Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, announced the adoption of the “Jeddah Declaration” after the approval of Arab leaders at the conclusion of the “Jeddah Summit” that was held on Friday.
The “Jeddah Declaration” stressed the importance of strengthening joint Arab action based on foundations, values, common interests and a single destiny, and the need to unify the word, join hands and cooperate in maintaining security and stability, protecting the sovereignty of Arab countries and the cohesion of their institutions, preserving their achievements, achieving further advancement of Arab action and benefiting from The human and natural resources that the region has to deal with the challenges of the new era in a way that serves the goals and aspirations towards a promising future.
The declaration referred to the necessity of creating conditions, investing opportunities, strengthening and consolidating partnerships and consolidating understandings between Arab countries on the basis of common interests, cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals, implementing ambitious development visions through a comprehensive renaissance in all fields to keep pace with global developments, and creating a future that meets the hopes and aspirations of the Arab peoples.
The “Jeddah Declaration” reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause as one of the main factors of stability in the region, and condemned in the strongest terms the practices and violations that target Palestinians with their lives, property and all their existence, stressing the importance of intensifying efforts to reach a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian cause, and finding a real horizon to achieve Peace on the basis of the two-state solution in accordance with international references, foremost of which is the Arab Peace Initiative, relevant international resolutions and principles of international law.
With regard to the Sudanese crisis, the leaders expressed their deep concern about the repercussions of the crisis on the security, safety and stability of the Arab countries and their peoples. External interference in Sudanese affairs fuels conflict and threatens regional peace and security.
The newspaper said, Turkish citizens residing abroad will start casting their votes today (Saturday) in the run-off of the Turkish presidential elections.
The current Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won the majority of votes in the first round, which was held on May 14, but he narrowly failed to achieve the absolute majority of more than 50 percent, forcing him to go through a run-off.
Erdogan is in a run-off against his opponent, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who finished second.
