His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, visited the Egyptian Embassy in the Vatican this afternoon, and was received by Ambassador Mahmoud Talaat, Egyptian Ambassador to the Vatican, and the embassy staff.
A luncheon was held in honor of His Holiness the Pope, which was attended by Ambassador Bassam Rady, Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, Ambassador Enas Makkawi, Head of the League of Arab States Mission to Italy and the Vatican, Minister Plenipotentiary Nagy Ghaba, Deputy Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, First Secretary Ihab Amr, Deputy Egyptian Ambassador to the Vatican, And First Secretary Mina Rizk at the Egyptian Embassy in Italy and Second Secretary May Kishk at the Egyptian Embassy in the Vatican.
In a short speech, Ambassador Mahmoud Talaat said: “We always feel in His Holiness the Pope his national character, his love and the peace he roams everywhere to create. On the day of the general audience of the Pope of the Vatican and when His Holiness entered, how much we felt the joy of this love amidst the world of conflicts and wars, so thanks to Your Holiness.”
For his part, His Holiness Pope Tawadros said: Egypt exists and is strong regardless of the difficulties, and God gave Egypt the Nile River, which represents to us the calm nature and patience and gives us the spirit of prayer and worship. We all live next to each other in one unit created by the Nile with its qualities.
He concluded by stressing his constant keenness to visit the Egyptian embassy in every country he visits.
