In the ultra-Orthodox rooms, it was learned that on the eve of Passover, the representative of the central faction, Deputy Mayor Yehiel Weingarten, sent an internal email in the city, in which he expressed support for Mayor Yehiel Lasri for another term, “The Agudath Israel faction, in consultation with the members of the Ashdod Rabbinical Committee and under their guidance, decided to support the candidacy of Dr. Yehiel Lesri for the upcoming term,” it said.
The letter was circulated throughout the city, with Lasri presenting it as a significant achievement and early ultra-Orthodox support, a move that infuriated the national leadership of the central faction, who unusually rushed to publicly reprimand their representative Yehiel Weingarten, and published an internal letter published here in ‘Bechaderi Haredim’ for the first time, in which they clarified that Weingarten is not authorized to express support.
