DUBAI, 12th May, 2020 (WAM) — The activities of the sixth round of the Expo Live program, which focuses on solutions related to combating climate change, concluded today, during which Expo Dubai hosted 43 innovators from 37 countries to showcase their innovations and sustainable solutions.

The jury within the Expo Live program announced that the deadline for selecting the winning candidates will be set before the end of May, and selected projects will be selected to receive funding, technical guidance, support and partnership opportunities, in addition to the opportunity to present innovations at the Climate Conference (COP28), which will be hosted by the city of Dubai Expo from November 30 to December 12.

In line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability and an embodiment of Dubai Expo City’s ongoing commitment to positive social, environmental and economic change, the sixth edition of Expo Live was officially launched on the 1st of last February, and social entrepreneurs from around the world were invited to submit their climate-related ideas that could be shared and reproduced. to achieve a lasting effect.

During three days, the innovative youth presented projects that address various aspects of the issue of climate change, such as environmental restoration, carbon, food security, waste, energy, water systems, finance, and vulnerable communities. Expo Live supports projects that work to find creative solutions to pressing challenges, in a way that helps improve people’s lives or Protect the planet.

Expo Live consists of the Innovation Impact Grants Program and the University Innovation Program, as it provided support for 140 projects in 76 countries, in which the beneficiaries of the Fund’s grants received financing, guidance, and assistance in the field of marketing and media. The Impact Innovation Grants Program received more than 11,000 applications from 184 countries (96 percent of all countries in the world) during the first five rounds.

The latest round of Expo Live highlights Expo City Dubai’s commitment to creating a positive and sustainable impact on the planet and communities, with each of the selected global startups receiving funding, support and exposure during the UAE Climate Conference (COP 28) to be hosted at Dubai Expo City in November. 2023.
