Nevine El Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity in Egypt, witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the “Waqfiya Egypt” foundation, in the presence of a number of international officials, banks, and civil organizations, under the slogan “Sustainable goodness and lasting impact of civil work.”
During the inauguration ceremony, the minister said: “The foundation’s march began in 2007, under the name of the Maadi Endowment Foundation, which began its work as a community institution, and provided development services in the Maadi region, where it adopted the principle of endowment, by recycling waste and surplus furniture, appliances and books.” And paper, plastic, food, etc., and transferring its value to endowments and charitable investment projects.
Al-Qabbaj added, “The world is witnessing rapid development, and investment funds and joint-stock companies have become one of the most important forms and financing and investment vessels that are witnessing increasing growth and are compatible with the endowment system.”
She explained that the Ministry of Social Solidarity has taken upon itself the task of economic empowerment of the most vulnerable groups, under the slogan of protection for production, through vocational training programs for young people and youth in its centers, which exceed 71 centers, and through associations and centers of productive families that are keen on handicrafts and the revival of heritage. , which exceeds 400 productive families centers, in addition to the production cooperatives that include more than 400 associations in the fields of leather, textiles, furniture and metal industries, in addition to the work of transportation, printing, construction and construction services.
Dr. Marwa El-Dali, founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maadi National Endowment and the Egypt Endowment, said: “The launch of the new endowment institution aims to create public awareness of the charitable endowment, through research, projects, events and models on the ground, and cooperation with many governmental and international agencies and companies in Implementing innovative projects in building capabilities, creating job opportunities, and financing microenterprises.
She added: “The tasks of the endowment board of trustees come at the forefront of its work agenda, reviving, modernizing and disseminating the concept of endowment, to ensure the continuity of developmental civil giving, to raise the level of well-being of the Egyptian citizen, by focusing on providing and embracing sustainable business models and innovative social projects.”
She pointed to the endowment’s endeavor to raise the level of professionalism of Egyptian workers to increase the competitive advantage of Egyptian products and exports.
