President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Guido Crosetti, the Italian Minister of Defense, in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Major General Giuseppe Dragoni, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Italian Armed Forces, as well as Ambassador Michele Quaroni, the Italian Ambassador to Cairo. .


President El-Sisi discusses strengthening military cooperation with Italy

Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the meeting witnessed the affirmation of mutual keenness to continue strengthening the historical and close ties between the two countries, and to advance bilateral cooperation frameworks at various levels during the coming period, especially in the military and security fields, as the Italian Minister of Defense praised Egypt’s essential role in Maintaining stability in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. The meeting also discussed the phenomenon of illegal immigration, and the need for concerted efforts to advance mechanisms to face cross-border challenges was emphasized. The Italian side appreciated the active Egyptian efforts in this regard.

The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed ways to enhance military cooperation, as it was agreed to continue developing existing cooperation in this regard. With regard to developments in regional issues, especially Libya and Sudan, views agreed on the importance of advancing political solutions to the various crises the region is going through, within the framework of preserving the unity of states and their territorial integrity, in a way that meets the aspirations of peoples towards restoring security and stability, and moving towards development and prosperity.
