Despite the accusations of corruption against her and the exploitation of her position at the head of the Traffic, Vehicles and Vehicles Management Authority in Dekwaneh for personal gain, the investigating judge in Mount Lebanon, Ziyad Al-Degheidy, agreed to release the head and general director of the Traffic, Vehicles and Vehicles Management Authority, Huda Salloum, in exchange for a financial guarantee of one billion pounds, while preventing her from Practicing work for 4 months.
According to Marwan Daher, Salloum’s legal representative, Judge Al-Degheidy referred the decision to the Public Prosecution Office to express an opinion of approval or objection, pointing out that “the Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, is supposed to decide on the matter tomorrow, Thursday.”
And last April, the head of the Indictment Division in Mount Lebanon, Judge Rabih Hussami, annulled Judge Degheidy’s decision, and kept Salloum’s arrest in the corruption file in Al-Nafia.
The Public Appeal Advocate in Mount Lebanon, Judge Nazik Al-Khatib, had arrested Salloum in November of last year to complete the investigation with her in the file of Al-Nafia after her interrogation in the Information Division.
Salloum’s arrest came against the background of investigations and proven evidence of illegal enrichment through taking bribes, organized corruption, and imposing sisters by force on the part of employees.
