Umm Al Quwain, May 17 / WAM / Union Water and Electricity has concluded a cooperation agreement with “Neiras” Engineering Consultancy Company, according to which “Neiras” will prepare a set of studies on the water sector in the Western Region (A) in the Emirate of Ajman.
The agreement was signed by “Union Water and Electricity”, Eng. Aref Ahmed Barhama, Executive Director of the Water Department, and by Eng. Omar Ahmed Maarouf, Regional Director of the Water and Utilities Sector on the part of Niras Company.
The studies include examining the efficiency of transmission and distribution networks, ways to reduce technical and financial losses, and the percentage of carbon emissions resulting from production and operation processes, in addition to reducing dependence on pumping systems that are high in cost and environmental impact and replacing them with alternative systems that are more efficient and sustainable.
It is worth noting that the Union Water and Electricity Company is in the process of conducting comprehensive studies to determine the efficiency of the water networks in all the areas in which it provides its services, with the aim of developing programs and action plans aimed, in addition to other efforts in this field, to reduce technical losses in the network to a minimum in Within a few years, in support of the state’s efforts to achieve sustainability of water resources and raise the efficiency of the sector.
