
ABU DHABI, 12th May, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE Parliamentary Friendship Committee group met with the parliaments of Latin America and North America, chaired by Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Committee, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council in Dubai, HE Carlos Sebastian García Altieri, Member of Parliament of the Republic of Paraguay.
The meeting was attended by members of the Emirati Parliamentary Friendship Group, His Excellency Khaled Omar Al-Kharji, and HE Aisha Muhammad Al-Mulla, members of the Federal National Council.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation relations between the Council and the Paraguayan Parliament in light of the growth and progress witnessed in bilateral relations between the two sides and with Latin American countries in various fields.
Tariq Al Tayer stressed that the bilateral relations between the UAE and Paraguay are growing and witnessing remarkable progress, especially on the economic, trade and investment levels, thanks to the support it receives from the leaderships of the two countries.
The two sides praised the strong parliamentary relations between the Federal National Council and the Parliament of the Republic of Paraguay, which are constantly evolving as a translation of the joint cooperation agreement between the Council and the Group of Latin American States (GRULAC) in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was signed in 2014, of which the Republic of Paraguay is a key member.
His Excellency Carlos Sebastian García Altieri indicated that the visit of the FNC delegation to a number of Latin American countries, including the Republic of Paraguay, last year, yielded a number of results, foremost of which was the development of strategic relations between the UAE and these countries in terms of the type and number of meetings held that reflected The level of development of bilateral relations and strategic partnership.
