Journalist and media writer Ahmed Al-Tahri, head of the news channels sector at the United Media Services Company, said that over the past years, Egypt has been a factor of stability and security for the Arab region from the Levant to the Maghreb, and this appeared in addressing many issues and matters, both on the bilateral and collective levels, as well as in Re-supporting the role of the Arab League again, restoring the issue of the tripartite and five-year summits, not escalating Arab affairs, working to clear the Arab atmosphere, and pushing the points of contention between the Arab countries to other areas that can be met and circumvented, which is a clear Egyptian approach in the past years.
He added, during a satellite intervention from Jeddah on the “Extra News” screen, “I saw some writings that speak of a narrow view of Syria and its return to the Arab League. And Syria must be placed within the framework of the fact that there is an Arab regional system that is going through changes and challenges, and the presence of Syria now is a necessity.
He continued that with regard to the Egyptian role, since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis and since the assumption of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian message was clear during the President’s participation in the Arab summits and the United Nations General Assembly or the special meetings in Syria of the Security Council; The unity of Syria and that the decision is for the Syrian people and respect for their choices is the basis, but Egypt stressed that terrorism will never be part of the future of Syria, and this famous declaration was made by President Al-Sisi in a special session of the Security Council in 2017.
