The Information Affairs Office of the General Directorate of Public Security issued the following statement:
The General Directorate of Public Security reaffirms that it has enough passports to meet all requests at home and abroad. It appeals to the honorable citizens, who do not immediately need to apply for a passport, to make way for those who are forced to obtain it, while emphasizing the eligibility of every Lebanese. He must have a passport.
In this context, the General Directorate of Public Security puts before citizens the following facts:
1- The daily capacity for printing is 3,000 passports, while the number of citizens who come daily to public security centers exceeds 5,000.
2- It was found that about 80% of the passports that were completed have not been used yet. This means that the reasons for rushing to obtain passports are not justified, especially when they are available in sufficient quantities, and therefore it is absolutely unnecessary to take into account the rumors that are circulated from time to time.
Based on these facts, the General Directorate of Public Security appeals to the honorable citizens, that “as far as the Directorate bears the responsibility of securing the rights of citizens and facilitating its procedures, it asks them to share this responsibility with it,” especially in terms of not rushing in front of the centers to obtain passports, except for those who are in dire need to her.
Finally, the General Directorate of Public Security will remain keen to ensure the required service for citizens and provide it to them by all legal means, and this is at the heart of its work and duties, and it will take all measures to ensure citizens’ requests and rights.
