The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, mourned the death of a member of its military council and the official in charge of its operations unit, the martyr Iyad al-Hassani, who died as a result of an Israeli assassination in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, in the center of Gaza City.
Iyad al-Hassani joined the Islamic Jihad movement at the beginning of its founding in the eighties of the last century.
Al-Hassani is one of the most prominent leaders of the “Quds Brigades” and one of the most wanted by “Israel” for more than 26 years. About a series of other operations in the second intifada.
Al-Hassani is considered one of the founders of the first military wing, “Qasm”, and one of the most wanted by the Israeli occupation forces, due to his great hand in planning martyrdom operations inside Israeli settlements during the years of the Al-Aqsa Intifada.
One of the most prominent operations he supervised was the Beit Lid operation, in which he was involved in 1995, which resulted in the death of 22 Israelis.
Al-Hassani was one of the planners of this operation, which is one of the most prominent martyrdom operations of the Islamic Jihad, a double operation carried out by Anwar Sukkar (Shujaia) and Salah Shaker (Rafah), on the morning of Sunday, January 22, 1995, which resulted in the killing of 22 Israeli soldiers and the injury of 63, including 20 seriously wounded, which made Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper call it “the most severe operations that targeted the Israeli army inside the Green Line.”
The operation was carried out at a gathering of the occupation army soldiers at the Beit Lid crossroads.
Al-Hassani has been responsible for the Operations Unit in the Al-Quds Brigades for years.
He played an important role in confronting the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and the firing of missiles at the entity during the past years.
In a previous interview with the martyr Iyad al-Hassani, in April 2022, he said that there is “complete readiness to confront new developments,” referring to “a new phase launched by the heroes of the Freedom Tunnel and the Jenin Brigade.”
During the meeting, which was held in the city of Rafah and organized by the Islamic Jihad Movement, he said, “The military leadership is satisfied with the readiness of the Al-Quds Brigades and its readiness for all possible scenarios and to surprise the enemy.” In the same meeting, he touched on the struggle situation in the West Bank.
