According to a statement by the Jordanian Public Security Directorate issued on Thursday afternoon: “A person fired shots at a girl inside a private university north of the capital.”

The statement added that the girl “was taken to the hospital in a bad condition, and the perpetrator fled and investigations were launched to determine his identity and arrest him.” Later, the girl died of her injury.

A Source close to the investigation told AFP that “the victim, Eman Irsheed, 21, who studies at the College of Nursing at the Applied Science University (north of Amman), was hit with 6 bullets to the head.”

He added, “The autopsy showed that the bullets led to a fracture and laceration in the skull.”

As of Thursday evening, the unidentified perpetrator is still on the run, and the reasons for committing the crime are not yet known.

Jordanians and the victim’s family demanded, through social media and local news sites, that the perpetrator be punished, who, if arrested, will face a charge of premeditated murder, the punishment of which is death by hanging.

And the University of Applied Sciences issued a statement saying: “With hearts wracked by pain and believing in God’s decree and destiny, the university mourns its student Iman Irsheed.”

And she pledged to “prosecute everyone who caused this painful incident so that he receives just retribution for his heinous crime.”

This crime in Jordan comes days after an Egyptian young man stabbed a student in front of her university in Mansoura, Egypt, after she refused to be associated with him.

Jordanians circulated the hashtag ( Execution of the Applied Killer) on social media, calling for the killer to be punished.
