Esther was born and raised in Canada as Eileen Zeitz, daughter of an orthodox Jewish family. In the late 1980s, she taught English at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, as part of her master’s degree studies.

Esther dedicated her life for Jonathan’s sake, with dedication. Under her influence, he repented and became close to Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu ztzel. They were married in 1993. She immigrated to Israel in 2005, and the entire community fought for his release.
