Caretaker Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayyad, made an inspection tour of the Schneider Electric Sustainability Center, on the sidelines of his participation in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, during which he received a detailed explanation of the company’s solutions and services in the field of sustainability and future city management. Green in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its efforts to raise societal awareness of the issue of climate change.

He was received by the President of Schneider Electric for Northeast Africa and the Levant, Sebastian Reyes, and the General Manager of the company for the Levant, Mohamed Sami.

The two sides agreed to hold a series of meetings to discuss future cooperation opportunities.

Fayyad explained that we were able to see the advanced technological solutions offered by Schneider Electric during our visit to the company’s sustainability center in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, and we had a joint meeting in which we emphasized the growing role of smart grid systems and automatic control devices for consumption and expected growth, especially with the increase in production Renewable energy and the importance of achieving energy efficiency, pointing out that work must be done to remove the technology barrier and ensure its presence in all markets, especially Lebanon.

Commenting on this visit, Reyes said: “We are honored by the visit of the Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayyad, to the Schneider Electric Sustainability Center, where he learned about the latest solutions and applications offered by the company in the field of energy management and automatic control. This visit comes as an affirmation of the importance of the role that technology and smart networks play in achieving efficiency Energy consumption and the importance of the availability of this technology in all markets to serve the region. We look forward to more cooperation in Lebanon to contribute to saving energy, promoting digital transformation efforts and achieving sustainability.”

He pointed out that Northeast Africa and the Arab Levant region, which includes Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Malta, is one of the most important regions for the company at the global level, with huge growth opportunities. The statement indicated that Schneider Electric participated in the Climate Conference COP27 with many activities and events, on top of which is the Sustainability Center, through which the latest digital solutions and projects related to climate, environment and society files from Schneider Electric are reviewed, and the environmental, societal and technological impact of those projects, as the center includes six sections representing The company’s six long-term commitments to achieve sustainability (climate, resources, trust, equality, generations, local partnership) in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGs), in addition to its continuous efforts to contribute to the transformation of “Sharm El-Sheikh” to the first green city in Egypt through Providing EVlink electric car chargers, The Green Challenge for students of King Salman University in South Sinai, and a 5-megawatt solar power plant, in addition to many social responsibility initiatives to support the local community by using renewable energy sources.
