Otto Addo, coach of the Ghana national team, criticized the referee’s decision in his team’s match against Portugal by awarding a penalty kick to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a goal.

Portugal’s national team defeated Ghana yesterday, Thursday, with three goals for two goals, at Stadium 947, in the first rounds of the 2022 World Cup, in the eighth group competitions.

Addo spoke to BN Sports after the match, saying: “The referee gave a penalty kick that was not a penalty kick. Everyone saw that.”

“Why was it counted? Because it’s Ronaldo or something like that,” he added.

And he concluded, “I do not know why the referees or the video crew did not pay attention. If we watched the replay, we played the ball. Of course, it was a mistake in our favor.”

Because of that goal, Ronaldo became the first player in history to score goals in five editions of the World Cup, starting from 2006 through 2010, 2014 and 2018.

Ghana will play in the second round against South Korea next Monday, and will conclude the group stage with Uruguay on the second of next December.
