Subscribe for free to Al Diyar channel on YouTube. The Lebanese Taekwondo Federation inaugurated the annual “South Korean Ambassador’s Tournament for juniors, girls, boys and girls” at the President Emile Lahoud Sports Complex (Mar Roukoz-Dekwaneh).

The organization of this competition, which is held over two weeks, periodically and annually, comes to confirm the strength of the historical relations between the South Korean Embassy and the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation.

The attendance was led by South Korean Ambassador Il Park and his wife and embassy staff, President of the Taekwondo Federation Dr. Habib Zarifa and his wife, Master Park Sun, delegated from South Korea to Lebanon, Vice President of the Federation Muhammad Kazan, Member of the Federation Accountant Grand Master Elie Nehme and Member of the Federation Grand Master Joe Khoury, Grand Masters Anwar Nehme, Georges Khattar, Antoine Saad, Joseph Abu Samra, the director of the national teams, Grand Master Ralph Harb, the families of the players, male and female players, and the press and media.

The beginning of the Lebanese national anthem is the South Korean anthem.

The first speech of the host of the ceremony, Maria Jadam, stated:

On behalf of the Chairman and members of the Administrative Committee of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, I welcome you to the opening ceremony of the annual South Korean Ambassador’s Cup in a sports station that has become annual. The relationship between the Lebanese Federation and the South Korean embassy is close and goes back to many years and has been greatly strengthened. The South Korean Ambassador’s Cup is included in the annual calendar of activities of the federation, which insists on holding this competition as part of its activities throughout the year.

Dr. Zarifa’s second speech, during which he thanked the South Korean state for its support for the Lebanese Federation and for the “taekwondo community” that is growing greatly in Lebanon. He talked about the local and international benefits for the current year, on top of which is the Asian Championship next September, in addition to signing a cooperation agreement with the World Taekwondo Organization “Koki One” (South Korea) some time ago, according to which a regional office was opened in Lebanon and its work includes the Arab region and the Middle East, in a move by the organization

Note that the “Cookie One”, which is the largest reference for Taekwondo in the world, will have a permanent representative in the regional office in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

In conclusion, Zarifa wished success to all the participants in the competition.

The third speech of Ambassador Park stated, “I am pleased to be with you at the opening of the South Korean Ambassador’s Cup competition, and I would like to assure you that 2023 is the year of Taekwondo in Lebanon for several reasons, namely: the remarkable leadership of Dr. Next September, and the participation of the international organization “Cookie One” in the performances during the opening ceremony, noting the agreement between the Lebanese Federation and “Cookie One” and the opening of a regional office for it in Lebanon to market the sport of Taekwondo and provide new in-kind assistance related to the game from South Korea to the Lebanese Federation, which performs its duties and trains The Lebanese military forces through Taekwondo training sessions.

Ambassador Park called for applause for Master Park Sun Ho, who came as an envoy from Korea to Lebanon at the invitation of the South Korean Embassy to attend the competition.

He concluded by saying, “The South Korean government and the South Korean embassy renew support and development of the game in Lebanon, and I assure you that we will support the federation in the coming years.”

Then Zarifa presented a souvenir to Ambassador Park, who in turn handed him a list of equipment provided by South Korea.
