Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier confirmed that Lionel Messi will start against Ajaccio in the French Premier League on Saturday, after returning to training after being suspended by the club.
Galtier reported a press conference on Friday: I spoke to him on Tuesday to find out his mentality and found him very determined to play, he will start essential tomorrow.
Messi apologized to Saint-Germain and his teammates last Friday and was left out of the squad during the 3-1 win over Troyes two days later.
Saint-Germain leads the way, six points ahead of Lens, and eight points ahead of Olympique de Marseille, its closest pursuer, with four matches remaining in the season.
Galtier said that Messi’s focus is on winning the French League, and added: He is very keen on winning the title.
“With him we have to adapt compared to what we did against Troyes. Leo remains Leo. I will not talk about statistics, but when he is with us we have to play with a different balance.”
Saint-Germain’s season did not live up to expectations after being knocked out early in the Champions League and the French Cup.
Lens could cut the gap to three points at the top if they win at home to Stade Reims later on Friday.
Saint-Germain has lost three of its last four home matches.
