The Israel Police opened an investigation following a complaint received according to which unknown persons broke into the warehouse of the team’s fans at the Sami Ofer Stadium and stole a lot of equipment from it. In addition, the burglars left black flags with drawings of skulls. Investigators from the Tirat HaCarmel police station began investigating the case and yesterday arrested two suspects from Haifa and the deaf community for committing the act.
The incident took place on 9/17 and the main suspicion of the police at the moment is that they are Hapoel Haifa fans. The police also fear that the incident will develop into violent acts between the fan organizations of the two teams and will only increase the rivalry between the parties, which may spill over into the sporting rivalry. According to the findings of the investigation, this morning the police will ask to extend the detention of the suspects at the Haifa Magistrate’s Court.
As I recall, recently there was also a suspicion of vandalizing a wall with a photo of Charon Sherry, when the suspicion was that it was Hapoel Haifa fans. The warehouse that was broken into is used to store all the cheering equipment, drums and other accessories that are used by the green crowd.
