Queiroz: I’m not surprised by Ronaldo’s comments about Manchester United

Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz, coach of the Iran national team, admitted that he was not surprised by his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo’s statements about Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.

Iran will face England in their first World Cup match, and Queiroz was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments about Erik ten Hag.

Queiroz was Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant during Ronaldo’s first spell at the English club.

The former Egypt coach said he was not surprised because Ronaldo and Manchester United are not on the same wavelength.

Ronaldo criticized Manchester United in a lengthy interview with Piers Morgan, in which he emphasized that the club’s infrastructure is poor and the administration has not carried out any development since its first period under the leadership of former coach Sir Ferguson, other than his criticism of Eric Ten Hag.

“I am a bit far away, but I am not surprised, because the context of the club is not the same,” Queiroz said in remarks published by the Portuguese “diario de noticias”.

He explained, “It may be one thing to sign Ronaldo as a player, and another thing to sign him to change the club’s philosophy. The club is going through a period of great instability in recent years.”

Adding: “Cristiano arrived and did not see the same mentality, the same way of being, he found difficulties in adaptation and routine in a club that has always been a winner.”

“You don’t get it right in six months, it takes four to seven years,” Queiroz stressed.
