Maccabi Haifa wanted to see Marko Nikolic come to Israel, but they will probably have to look for another coach. In Russia and Serbia it is reported that Marko Nikolic has concluded his terms at Dynamo Moscow, the team of Eli Desa.
Just this week, Desa’s coach, former Maccabi Tel Aviv, Slavisha Yukanovich ended his career in the Russian team, and now the Blues acted quickly and managed to reach an agreement with Nikolic, according to reports.
According to publications in Serbia, Nikolic even met with representatives of the Greens as part of the talks, but for unknown reasons, the talks did not lead to an agreement.
The 43-year-old Serbian began his coaching career at the humble age of 29 in Bard, after three successful seasons he received the Serbian youth team, which he coached for two years.
After short stints in Rad in Vivodina, he got one of the two biggest in Serbian football – Partizan Belgrade. He coached it in both terms and a total of 3 seasons. In 2016/17 he won the double in Serbia.
He coached half a season in Slovenia and won the championship, and then two and a half years in the Hungarian Videoton, with which he won the championship and a cup.
His successes in three leagues, at the age of 40, gave him the job of coaching the Russian luxury team, Lokomotiv Moscow, and in 2020/21 he won the Russian Cup with them. Now, he is returning to football in Russia after a long time away in hopes of getting his career back on track.
