Liverpool are still in contention for fourth place with two rounds remaining in the Premier League season, but the revolution in the English team following last disappointing season has already begun. After a series of reports on the subject, this evening (Wednesday), the Mighty Reds announced the release of four key players on the roster.
The most prominent name is of course Roberto Firmino, one of the greatest players at the club in the Klopp era. The 31-year-old Brazilian scored 9 league goals this season, and he ends his contract at the end of the current season and will not renew it. So is the veteran James Milner who is expected to move to Brighton, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The four players have won the Premier League, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup during their time at Liverpool. In the team’s final home game against Aston Villa on Saturday, they are expected to say goodbye, with Roberto Firmino sure to receive a particularly emotional farewell from the Anfield crowd.
