It was not an easy season for Hapoel Nof HaGilil, which only a year ago was relegated from the Premier League and suffered an unstable season in all respects in 22/23. However, tonight (Wednesday) they let out quite a bit of air after beating Hapoel Kfar Shalem 0:2 in the test match for the right to play in the National League on 23/24.
Already in the fifth minute, Hapoel Nof HaGilil managed to get the advantage from a serious mistake by Kfar Shalem goalkeeper Lior Khatarian. Nebo Shedo picked up a deflected ball, the Orange goalkeeper was unable to receive it inside the five-point square and Alon Buzurgi said thanks to capture from close range the 0:1 of the team from the north.
Although Kfar Shalem did not make life easy for the Galilee landscape, and reached a number of good situations during the game, in the 75th minute Mehran Radi’s moment came to decide. Lenri Kahinda broke free from three players, passed a shot to Radi and the veteran midfielder blasted home the most important goal of Avanir this season
While Nof HaGalil celebrated, Kfar Shalem was disappointed. The team that made a good progress in the League A playoffs, again failed to complete promotion in the end, when in the previous season they surrendered to Hapoel Rishon Lezion in the same position. Thus, throughout history only one team from League A has managed to win the test match – City of Tiberias.
