Taiwanese computer and hardware company ASUS has officially launched the “ROG Phone 6D” series of gaming phones, the successor to the previous “ROG Phone 6” series.
The new series includes two different phones in the group, “ROG Phone 6D” and “6D Ultimate”, as well as an exclusive version called “ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition”.
The two new phones share many specs and features, including a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display (1080 x 2448 pixels) with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz touch sampling rate.
The display supports HDR10+ texture, DCI-P3 color gamut, sRGB eye protection, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The screen provides a peak brightness of 1200 nits.
Both phones are powered by a “Dimensity 9000+” octa-core processor from the Taiwanese company MediaTek paired with a Mali-G710 graphics processor.
The processor is powered by 16GB of high-speed RAM “LPDDR5x” and up to 512GB of built-in storage (from “UFS 3.1”).
Both devices include a 6000mAh battery with 65W fast wired charging support.
They also include an in-display fingerprint sensor with ASUS noise-canceling technology, dual front-facing speakers, and triple microphones.
For gaming, the two phones feature an advanced “AirTrigger 6” ultrasonic sensor that supports gestures such as “Double Action,” “Press and Raise,” and “Gyro Aim.”
Aura RGB lighting on the back panel of both phones provides up to 16.77 million colors.
At the same time, 6D Ultimate uses a 2-inch OLED screen on the back, which can notify users of incoming calls, charging status, etc., and users can also create custom display animations.
Apart from the “GameCool 6” cooling system featured in the regular ROG Phone 6D, the “6D Ultimate” also has an “AeroActive Portal” system designed to direct airflow from the “AeroActive Cooler 6” system into the phone to improve dissipation performance the heat.
The two phones run on the “Android 12” operating system, as the company promised two operating system updates and up to two years of security updates.
They also support 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.3 and NFC. Both models have a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a “USB Type-C” port.
Both phones feature a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel IMX766 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 5-megapixel macro camera.
On the front, the two phones have a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.
The price of the basic version of the “ROG Phone 6D” phone (16 RAM + 256 GB storage) starts at $ 949.
The “6D Ultimate” model comes with only one version, with 16 RAM and 512 GB of built-in storage, and the company has set its price at $ 1,400.
The two phones are only available in “Space Gray” color.
ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition
Asus also unveiled an exclusive upgraded version of the previous lineup, called ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition.
The phone works with two different processors depending on the region. In other words, the phone is powered by a “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1” processor in North America, while it comes with a “Dimensity 9000+” processor in the rest of the regions.
The exclusive edition has a special ‘Aura RGB’ backlit logo, with a stylized look like the ‘Batman’ logo.
The device also comes with a unique set of matching accessories that includes a small “Bat-Signal” USB-C optical projector that can project the famous signal to nearby surfaces.
The Android 12-based phone user interface also includes an animated Batman theme pack, including live wallpapers, redesigned app icon styles, animations and sound effects, custom in-screen fingerprint icon and notification sounds inspired by Batman. “ and more.
The company announced its cooperation with the American company “Warner Brothers” for film, television and music production and distribution, to design the new phone. The price of the basic version of the phone (12 RAM + 256) is $ 1,200.
