The first mention of a new Mortal Kombat game came from a Warner Bros. investor meeting. Discovery, where current CEO David Savlov casually mentioned that a new video game was on its way for a 2023 release — though the game was not previously announced.

Even series co-creator Ed Boon was surprised by the surprising mention on his Twitter page that, although there are no details on what the next MK game will look like, it will likely continue to focus on time travel and the incorporation of different eras of the series, which was an important part of the previous game.

Over the past decade, Netherrealm Studios has established a pattern with its development schedule, and the development studio is committed to the Mortal Kombat series in the near future, and DC Comics’ next game will be Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which was most recently pushed back to February 2024.

The Mortal Kombat series has just begun after its 30th anniversary Game New, while work is also underway on the Mortal Kombat movie.

So far, there is no specific date on when the famous and beloved game will be launched, as it will be announced, perhaps in a separate announcement or at the Summer Game Fest.
