The works sub-branch continued discussing the proposed recommendations to activate the oil and gas sector

The sub-committee emanating from the Public Works, Transport, Energy and Water Committee, in charge of following up on the issue of oil and gas, held a session this morning chaired by Representative Adeeb Abdel-Masih, and in the presence of the deputies: Fouad Makhzoumi, Faisal Al-Sayegh, Cesar Abi Khalil, Nazih Matta, Ahmed Al-Khair, Hussein Jishi, Taha Nagy and Ibrahim Menemeneh.
Also present were: Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Dr. Ali Hamieh, representative of the Petroleum Administration, Gabi Daaboul, director of the Port of Beirut Omar Itani, advisor to the Minister of Environment, Dr. Hassan Al-Duhaini, and representatives of the Ministry: Dr. Manal Muslim, Eng. Hala Al-Munajjid and Eng. Catherine Abdo, Director Regional Director of “Publish What You Pay” Dr. Pierre Saadeh, Ms. Gina Snow, and Eng. Fadwa Kallab.
In its session, the committee followed up on the issue of the proposed recommendations to activate the oil and gas sector, and was briefed by the Petroleum Administration Authority on the documents related to the start of “Total” exploration work in Block No. (9).
It also listened to the steps required to activate Lebanon’s accession to the Organization for Transparency in Extractive Industries, especially after civil society selected its representatives in the Stakeholders Council, as well as some ministries naming their representatives in the aforementioned council.
