He explained that on April 30 of this year, the implementation of 3 completion projects for the first-priority projects of the integrated strategy for rainwater management in the governorate began in the Smouha region, “Transportation and Engineering – Victor Emmanuel Square”, and Sidi Bishr, “Mohamed Naguib, Khaled Ibn Al-Walid and Street 57”, all of which They are considered hot spots during the peak periods and places for the accumulation of rain water in large quantities, which were hindering the normal life of citizens during the periods of the peak due to the sewage network not absorbing the huge amounts of rain that the governorate is exposed to in a short period, with a total estimated cost of the three projects 850 million pounds, and the total area The serviced areas of the three projects are 3 million square meters, and the total paving surfaces of the three projects are 400 thousand square meters.
The governor indicated that these projects are among the projects that will be implemented to manage rainwater in the governorate in an integrated manner to maximize its benefit and exploitation in the new delta project, and that it is also considered integrated with the 3 projects that were implemented before the rainy season this year, which clearly contributed and achieved the purpose. desired for her.
And he confirmed that full coordination took place with the Traffic Department before starting the implementation of the projects, and based on those coordination, it was determined to start implementation work in 4 streets within the Smouha area, “Albert Al-Awwal – Transportation and Engineering – Ismail Sirry – Zahran”, and to postpone the remaining streets of the projects with heavy traffic. High and main axes and start implementing them after the end of the current academic year to preserve traffic flow and not harm citizens.
He added that excavation work was carried out and pipes of different diameters were installed with a length of about 2 kilometres, and project implementation work on Albert Street was completed within 10 days, and restoration and paving will start starting from next Sunday, and work will be done to restore the object to its original condition and paving first. .
