Badawi indicated to “The Seventh Day” that it is known that the global need for fine yarns reaches 1.6%, while the consumption of thick and medium yarns globally and locally reaches 98.4%.
Regarding the upcoming strategy to fill the local market deficit of thick and medium yarns and save hard currency, as a result of importing thick and medium yarns, he indicated that if the modernized yarns were operated at Al-Mahalla Al-Kubra and Shebeen Al-Kom Company, which are the models of the nineties and late eighties and with German machines and others, Egypt’s daily production of yarns would become The thick and medium are at least 180 tons per day of these yarns for 550,000 Jordanians only, equivalent to 23.5 million Egyptian pounds per day, and the equivalent of 600 million Egyptian pounds per month, deducted from the price of imported yarn.
Ashraf Badawy added that it is possible to import short African cotton from West African countries, which exceeds 3 million tons, and East Asian countries acquire it for their factories or try to devise, or plant short cotton in eastern Owainat, and solve the weaknesses that exist from the presence of a specialized processor, in addition to those The quality of cotton, or the tendency to grow genetically modified cotton, such as in East Asian countries.
And he continued: “These vast areas can be exploited and cultivated with colored Egyptian cotton that is required in the global markets, and it is in an area far from pollution, or anything else..
