The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training participated in the twenty-ninth meeting of the Committee of Vocational Education and Training Officials in the GCC countries, represented by the Deputy Director General for Training, Sayed Al-Tabtabaei, in Muscat.

Regarding this participation, Al-Tabtabaei stated that the authority was keen to attend this meeting to discuss many common topics, including a project to survey current training programs and adapt them to the technical and professional needs of the labor market and artificial intelligence, in addition to future programs and curricula that will be developed to confront pandemics and disasters, adding that during the meeting The Fifth Gulf Skills Competition, the future visions project for the system of qualifications, standards and professional tests for the GCC countries were discussed, as well as the guiding framework for small and medium enterprises (incubators) and international and Gulf field visits, and the date for the next meeting was set in March 2024 in Qatar.

On the second day of the forum, each country reviewed the progress, plans and strategies it has achieved in the fourth industrial revolution, and Al-Tabtabaei gave a full presentation on this topic.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Tabtabaei met with the Sultanate’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Rahma Al-Mahrouqi, and ways of strengthening cooperation between Kuwait and Oman were discussed regarding raising the level of education and vocational training and highlighting its important role in Gulf and Arab societies, and how to develop it to keep pace with the needs of the modern technological era.
