Our hero, Nasser bin Saleh Al-Attiyah, is looking forward to winning the 40th edition of the Jordan International Rally, which constitutes the third round of the Middle East Rally Championship for the 2023 season, which will continue until Saturday, with the participation of 25 teams representing seven countries.
Al-Attiyah, the world champion for long desert rallies (cross country) and the Dakar Rally champion five times, accompanied by his French navigator Mathieu Baumel, finished his strong preparations for the Jordan Rally.
Al-Attiyah will take part in the Volkswagen Rally, ecstatic about his recent victory in the Rally Mexico in the second edition of the World Rally Cup (RAID), and his capture of the overall standings of the world championship that he holds the title.
Al-Attiyah enters the Jordan Rally competitions, as the most prominent candidate to retain the title for the eleventh time in a row and the sixteenth out of twenty entries, to enhance his record in the number of times he won the rally.
Nasser Al-Attiyah, the 15-time rally champion and winner of the rally in the past ten seasons, faces tough competition from the most prominent drivers in the Middle East Championship, as he seeks to win the Jordan Rally title for the eleventh time in a row, and his 84th victory in the Middle East championship rounds.
The teams participating in the rally had completed the reconnaissance process on the stages yesterday, and the organizing committee of the rally had developed similar routes for 2022, where rally director George Khoury confirmed that minor changes were made in the middle section of the Jordan River stage, its distance is 40.79 km, and a new stage was added, which is The short Dead Sea stage, which is 3.48 km long, is held as part of the Friday competitions.
The rally has 13 special stages, with a distance of 208.04 km, spread over Friday and Saturday, and the total distance of the rally is 589.85 km.
The stages of the rally today, Friday, are Yakart 1 and 2, with a distance of (9.49 km), Jordan River 1 and 2, with a distance of (40.79 km), Baptism 1 and 2, with a distance of (11.34 km), and the Dead Sea 1, with a distance of (3.48 km), and the distance of the special stages for the first day is (126.72) km. The total distance is (335.15 km).
