Al-Ahly team qualified for the CAF Champions League final after defeating Tunisia’s Esperance with a clean goal. In the match that brought them together on Saturday evening at Cairo Stadium in the second leg of the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League, Hussein Al-Shahat scored the match’s only goal.
The first-leg match in Tunisia ended with Al-Ahly winning 3-0 at Hammadi Al-Aqrabi Stadium in Brades, scored by Percy Tau with “two goals” and Mahmoud Kahraba “one goal”, so that Al-Ahly advanced to the final after winning the two matches with a clean four.
Al-Ahly is awaiting the winner from Moroccan Wydad and South African Sun Downs in the match that brings them together tomorrow, Saturday, from the other side of the African semi-final round, to face it in the final match of the African Championship, with the two-legged system.
The start of the match was calm, while Esperance tried to snatch an early goal, hoping to achieve a rebound and compensate for the heavy defeat at home, while Mahmoud Kahraba threatened the goal of the Tunisian champion in the fifth minute, after playing the ball with his left hand, but it hit the crossbar, and Al-Ahly got a corner kick in the 14th minute, which was executed by Ali Maaloul, but Esperance defense pushed her away.
Hussein Al-Shahat scored the goal for Al-Ahly in the 22nd minute, from an organized attack that Percy Tau started from the depth of the field, Al-Shahat on the left front, and the last played it brilliantly from the top of the goalkeeper.
Muhammad Ali Bin Ramadan threatened Al-Ahly’s goal with a shot in the 24th minute, but Ali Lotfi turned it into a corner, and Esperance got a free kick in the 26th minute as a result of Bin Ramadan being blocked by Marwan Attia, and Bin Ramadan played it crosswise inside the penalty area, but Al-Ahly’s defense pushed it away twice, and threatened Al-Shahat scored Al-Ahly in the 28th minute, but it passed over the crossbar before the referee indicated that there was offside.
Hamdi Fathi got a direct kick in the 42nd minute, and Maaloul carried it into the penalty area, but the Esperance defense kept it away from the dangerous areas, and the result continued, with Al-Ahly advancing with a goal until the end of the first half.
The Esperance team tried to pose a danger to Al-Ahly’s defense at the start of the second half, but to no avail, before Al-Ahly regained the Al-Manawat area and controlled the pace of the game, while Ali Lotfi saved the most dangerous balls of Esperance from Muhammad Ali Bin Hamouda’s header in the 65th minute, after following a corner from the left front. .
The Esperance defense saved an accomplished goal for Al-Ahly in the 68th minute from Hussein Al-Shahat’s shot after receiving a gift from Mahmoud Kahraba, and Al-Ahly made 3 changes in the 72nd minute, with Ahmed Abdel Qader, Taher Muhammad Taher and Afsha descending instead of Hussein Al-Shahat, Hamdi Fathi and Percy Tau.
Al-Ahly made two new changes in the 82nd minute, with Amr Al-Suleya and Khaled Abdel-Fattah descending instead of Marawan Attia and Ali Maaloul, and Yasser Ibrahim played a strong shot in the 87th minute, but it passed over the crossbar, and a minute later Ahmed Abdel-Qader missed a new goal opportunity for Al-Ahly from an organized attack, and Kahraba hit a shot. Dangerous in the 90th minute, but the Esperance goalkeeper caught it, and the result continued without change until the end of the match, with Al-Ahly winning with a clean goal and officially ascending to the African final.
