The Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the Environment Writers Association, is organizing a visit for environmental journalists under the auspices of the Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, to celebrate the World Bird Migration Day, next Tuesday, from the heart of the beautiful Ashtum Reserve in Port Said.


Ashtoum El-Gamil Reserve and Tennis Island in Port Said governorate are among the reserves that were declared as a natural reserve during the year 1988, on an area of ​​​​180 km2. It is considered one of the wetland reserves that serve as a natural isolation for birds, at a distance of 200 km from the heart of Cairo.


The month of May is one of the months during which a number of environmental events coincide, as the second Saturday of the month witnesses the celebration of the International Day of Migratory Birds, as well as the celebration of the International Day of Biological Diversity, which is celebrated on May 22..


With regard to the International Day of Migratory Birds, which falls on the second Saturday of May, the countries of the world celebrate this year 2023 by focusing on water and its importance to migratory birds, and the celebrations will also focus on defining the main measures to protect water resources and aquatic ecosystems..
