The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing, through the Sennary House of the Cultural Communication Sector, a symposium open to the public, entitled “Groups from the Garden of Poetry”, in the presence of a group of writers, poets and critics. The symposium will be held tomorrow, Sunday, May 21, at 7:00 pm, at the ancient site of the ancient Sennary House in Sayeda Zeinab.

The symposium revolves around poetic experiences, linguistic aesthetics, different poetic rhythms and styles, as well as the role of poetry in expressing culture, heritage and identity, and its current place in literature, culture and the arts.

The symposium comes within the framework of keenness to spread culture and arts, consolidate human values and principles, as well as promote mutual respect, tolerance and understanding, as well as provide an appropriate environment for the exchange of experiences and knowledge and encourage reading, thinking and learning.

In its latest activities, Bayt al-Sinari hosted a symposium by the American historian Peter Gran last Wednesday.

He presented the ideas of Lord Cromer, saying: He saw within the framework of the Western view that Egypt is a group of people, but he did not refer to it as a state, adding that his understanding of Islam was too simple, and he only spoke about the provisions that he saw as strict, pointing out that he also touched on the need to improve the status of women in the East. Although he returned to his country to head an association against women’s rights!, He also talked about the American view of the East, saying that the West still sees Egypt and the countries of the East in a stereotypical way, far from modernity.

He added: If we look closely at American history, we will find that the parents committed crimes against the Native Americans and Africans, but we cannot say that to the students and students, pointing out that the Western vision crystallizes all the crimes it committed in the context that it was part of the divine plan according to a vision similar to the stories of the Bible and the Testament. The symposium was followed by an artistic evening performed by the Tanoura troupe at Beit Al-Sinari theatre.
