Marcel Kohler, coach of Al-Ahly team, commented on his team’s victory over Tunisia’s Esperance and its qualification for the CAF Champions League final.

“We controlled the match a lot,” Koller said in the post-match press conference. We had the ball and missed chances, but in the end we qualified.”

In response to the psychological superiority achieved by Wydad Sundowns in the final match, Kohler replied: “We do not know who the opponent is. We shall wait. Whoever the opponent is, we will prepare for him and analyze his performance. Happy with the level of the team, we showed it on the ground today. We will be well prepared for the first match.”

Commenting on the penalty kick taken by Athar Al-Taher, which the Sudanese Al-Hilal player missed in the first-leg match in Sudan, Al-Ahly coach replied, saying: “Losing a penalty kick is not what we qualified for.” To come back and achieve good results, the performance improved, and we deservedly qualified, we can beat any team.”

Al-Ahly won, this evening, Friday, with a clean goal, over its counterpart, Esperance, during the match that brought them together in the second leg of the semi-final round.

Al-Ahly had finished the first leg by beating Esperance de Tunis by three.
