On Friday, a Palestinian government official warned of the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing tension with Israel for the fourth consecutive day.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Youssef Abu Al-Rish, told reporters at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza that the health system is facing great difficulties and challenges in light of the tightening of the Israeli blockade on the Strip. The pressure on it increases due to the Israeli raids.
He pointed out that hundreds of patients, especially tumors, are at risk of death, after being prevented from traveling to hospitals in the West Bank and Jerusalem for treatment after the closure of the Beit Hanoun / Erez checkpoint, which is under Israeli control.
Israel continues to close Kerem Shalom crossings, the only commercial outlet, and Beit Hanoun crossings with the Gaza Strip, for the fourth day in a row.
This comes as the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced, in its latest statistics, that 33 Palestinians, including 6 children and 3 women, were killed, and 111 others were wounded, since the beginning of the tension at dawn last Tuesday.
