Representative Karim Talaat El-Sadat, a member of the Housing Committee in the House of Representatives representing the Future of a Nation Party, submitted a request for a briefing to Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, addressed to Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply, regarding the rise in iron prices in Egypt despite its global decline. , calling for the abolition of dumping duties compared to gold customs.
El-Sadat explained in the explanatory memorandum to the request submitted by him, “The most important reasons for the insane rise in the prices of building materials is the lack of competition in the market, the imposition of dumping fees on imported iron, and the failure to allow importers to import billets, in addition to the absence of control and the state on the markets, which caused a situation Chaos in the iron market.
The member of the House of Representatives asked: What is the government’s plan to protect more than 100 million citizens, especially since there are companies that sell a ton of iron at a price of 32 thousand pounds, and other factories of lower quality that sell it at a price of 39 thousand pounds, and other factories that sell it at 43 thousand pounds, who protects the citizen.
And he called for tightening control over the markets, adding: “Good follow-up by the concerned agencies is the way to confront the greed of merchants and companies and eliminate pricing chaos, in addition to abolishing dumping fees because it is also a fundamental cause in the price crisis of imported building materials, so it must be dealt with as happened with gold and exempted from the customs “.
